Florida’s Golden Age of Souvenirs

Florida's Golden Age of SouvenirsFlorida’s figurines, jewelry, pottery, and prints from the 1890s to 1930 are showcased in Florida’s Golden Age of Souvenirs by Larry Roberts. While not always representing the kitshcy Floridiana we are used to seeing today, you’ll see a terrific sampling of souvenirs of Florida’s past in this handsome hardcover.

Discover a bit of Florida’s past with each chapter’s intro and then delve into the color photos that represent the typical look of the souvenirs found in Florida’s history. I found the chapter on Seminole dolls particularly fascinating, with their beautiful patchwork clothes. The spoons of year’s past are really interesting (especially given the spoon collection someone started for me in childhood) with their alligator and fruit motifs.
